A little about me

Who am I? I am Samantha Cruz ,31 (will be 32 in May) and I am married to a bipolar man. We have 2 wonderful annoying children together, a boy and a girl, who are still way to little to really know whats going on. My daughter is almost 6 and my son almost 3.

My husband was an Army Medic stationed in Germany where I met him in late 2005 and married him within 6 months. At the time I thought we had all these great reasons (noted here, it was not because OMG we were so madly in love but had to do with his deployment to Iraq). After he was diagnosed in 2007 I realized, it was a manic episode that had just sucked us in. Reading lots of blogs I think it’s a very common phenomenon within bipolar marriages.

Next month (April 2015) we will celebrate (more or less, probably less since my hubby is in a Depression) our 9 year anniversary. We went trough a lot, more than some people go through in a lifetime but maybe less than other bipolar couples experience. Either way I am not judging anyone about the decisions they make. We tattered on the brink of divorce more than once and it is the hardest decision one can make, but so far we stayed together and whether or not that was a good decision, I guess only time will tell.

At the moment we live back in Germany (my home country) right next to my parents, yeah me .. not! .. but miss the States every day. For 7 years we lived on the beautiful East Coast, and that is where my heart truly feels is home. My husband, which I will just refer to as J., is from the West Coast and even though I love to visit there, I don’t see us ever being at home there.

This will be my blog about every day life, struggles, ups and downs, heartaches and joys of my #bipolarmarriage. I hope you enjoy reading it, and maybe you can find yourself in some of it. Sometimes its good to know, you are not alone and there are other people out there going through the same pain as you do.

At first I honestly didn’t tell him but we use the same laptop sooo.. anyway, he read one of the first blogs and I asked him if he was ok with it/wanted to read them. He said he didn’t really like me doing it and doesn’t need to see his failures in writing but if it helps me he’s ok with it =)

I’m so glad you stopped by my blog and I found yours because we have so much alike like dealing with similar issues with our husband’s. It’s so hard to find others who truly understand what u go through. It’s so refreshing to find someone else like yourself out there. Reading this i felt like i was reading about our marriage except for we still live on the east coast and my husband isnt an army medic. I look forwards to reading more of your blog. 🙂

Thank you! I am glad you like my blog! But sorry to hear you are in the same boat, its not an easy place to be. My husband isn’t in the Army anymore either, we have been civilians for quite some time now, I guess I need to rewrite this a little =) But thank you for stopping by, it means a lot that I can reach others!
